Mind Numbing Meetings
by minimus inwithout a doubt, jw life is boring.
and those meetings!
5 congregation meetings, meetings for field service, elders meetings, judicial meetings, meetings to figure out who was qualified to clean the toilets....🤔.

Yes, Zeb!
Minimus, I'll tell you how I did it-- I jeopardized my mental and physical health. The JW life nearly killed me in the six months before I walked away. I had an Intensive Out-Patient hospitalization and was was admitted to the hospital for being over-medicated for PTSD and severe, recurrent clinical depression.
It nearly killed our son and nearly destroyed my marriage.

How did we do it???
"Without a doubt, JW life is boring. And those meetings! 5 congregation meetings, meetings for field service". . .driving in field service and having maybe one or two dollars thrown your way to help with gas, obeying the "headship principle" at home and in the congregation, pioneering, conducting "Bible Studies", personal study, preparing insipid talks and magazine presentations, studying with our children, dressing (shopping, laundry, ironing) our children for meetings and dragging them out at night when they should be in bed or doing homework, attempting to provide a social life for your children when they were seen as "bad association" because of your "marked" "unbelieving mate", providing food for and participating in spring and fall cleanups, serving meals to C.O.s, serving meals for RBC projects for months on end during 2 mold remediation renovations and 2 complete rebuilds, volunteering at assemblies and conventions and driving the needy to same, calling on and providing meals/doing chores for the sick and elderly, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the toilets. . . all the while working part-time "secularly" and being told it was never enough. 🤔

Sail Away
My husband and I are flying from the Northeast, USA to Guatemala City to spend the holidays with our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons. The older will be 4 years old on December 22, so we will have a birthday party too. His brother is just 19 months old. We will drive to lake Atitlan for Christmas. Santa will ride on a fire truck, and there will be fireworks for days.

They would Stone us if the law would allow
by ElderEtta inseveral years ago unless i was dreaming i read a watchtower quotation that effectively said that they would execute us as disfellowshipped individuals if the law would allow.. was i dreaming?.

Actually, I vaguely recall something in writing just a few years ago. It may have been in an article about "mentally-diseased apostates".
The you, as a parent, would have to throw the first stone was still spouted by the elders the year I walked away in 2011.

The Hypocrisy Of Jehovah’s Witnesses
by minimus incelebrating holidays is wrong if you are a witness.
but almost every jw that i know of has turkey on thanksgiving day.
they say , every day is a day of thanksgiving.
-
Sail Away
True confession-- I once cooked a Thanksgiving meal in the wee hours of the morning and served a Thanksgiving breakfast for two other pioneer couples at 7 am so we could meet up for service at 9 that morning. Sheer lunacy!

The photo is of my shi tzu poodle named Emma at the helm. She won third-place honorable mention in a salty dog photo contest by Soundings magazine. She has been sailing with us for over 10 years now.
One of my lightbulb moments was during our yearly anniversary sail charter. I wondered what my life would be like living in shorts and bare feet with the wind in my hair without meetings, dresses, heels, magazines, books or a Bible. I sailed away from the org in 2011. I still don't own a dress. Just sayin!
